Calling in Sick, Professionally

Scene: It is 7:40 a.m. You wake up with a fever and a sore throat. Your team stand-up is at 9:30. You open your chat app to message your manager, Dana, before the day starts.
You: Hi Dana, I woke up with a fever this morning and I'm not well enough to work today. I'd like to take a sick day. Sorry for the short notice.
Manager: Thanks for letting me know early. Rest is the priority — don't worry about the stand-up. Is there anything urgent on your plate today?
You: One thing. The client report is due at 3 p.m. I've finished the draft; it just needs a final check. Could Sam take a quick look and send it? I'll leave the file link in our channel.
Manager: That works. I'll ask Sam to cover it. Anything else can wait until you're back. Do you think you'll need just today, or more?
You: I'll aim to be back tomorrow, but I'll message you first thing in the morning if I'm still unwell. I'd rather not spread anything to the team.
Manager: Sensible. Take care of yourself and log off — no need to reply to messages today. Feel better soon.
You: Thank you, Dana. I really appreciate it. I've handed the report over to Sam in the channel now. See you soon.
