Three Sentences That Make Standup Work

三句话,让站会为你加分

科技互联网深度阅读初级约 2 分钟场景 · standup# 会议沟通# 效率与方法

每日站会是很多工程师加入外企团队后的第一道英语关:用『昨天做了什么、今天做什么、卡在哪里』三句话说清进展,说具体不说模糊,尽早暴露阻塞,长讨论移到会后,再背熟几个状态短语——安静的新人也能成为团队信赖的成员。

If you join a tech team, the daily standup will probably be your first English-speaking challenge. It is a short meeting, usually fifteen minutes, where everyone shares progress while standing up. The format sounds easy, but many non-native speakers either stay silent or talk far too long. The good news: you only need three clear sentences.

加入一个技术团队后,每日站会很可能是你要面对的第一道英语口语关。这是一个通常只有十五分钟的短会,大家站着轮流分享进展。形式听起来简单,但许多非母语者要么全程沉默,要么讲得太长。好消息是:你只需要三句清楚的话。

The classic format answers three questions. What did I finish yesterday? What will I do today? What is blocking me? For example: "Yesterday I finished the payment API. Today I will write the tests. I am blocked on database access — I need a password from the platform team." That is a complete update in under thirty seconds.

经典格式回答三个问题:我昨天完成了什么?我今天要做什么?什么在阻碍我?例如:『昨天我完成了支付 API。今天我会写测试。我卡在数据库权限上——需要平台团队给我一个密码。』这就是一次不到三十秒的完整进展汇报。

Be concrete, not vague. "I worked on the login page" tells the team nothing. "I fixed the login bug, and the fix is ready for review" tells them exactly where things stand. Concrete updates build trust, and they also make your English easier — short facts are simpler to say than long stories.

要具体,不要含糊。『我在做登录页』等于什么都没说;『我修好了登录的 bug,改动已经可以进入评审』则让大家清楚地知道进展到哪一步。具体的汇报能建立信任,也会让你的英语更轻松——短小的事实,总比冗长的故事好说出口。

Raise blockers early and clearly. Many engineers wait, hoping to solve the problem alone. Do not wait. Say: "I am blocked on the API keys. Could someone help me after standup?" Asking for help in front of the team is not weakness. It is how fast teams work.

尽早、清楚地说出你的阻塞点。很多工程师喜欢再等等,指望自己一个人把问题解决掉。别等。直接说:『我被 API 密钥卡住了,站会后有人能帮我看看吗?』当着团队的面求助不是软弱,这正是高效团队的工作方式。

Keep long discussions out of the standup. If a topic needs more than one minute, use the magic phrase: "Let's take this offline." It means: let's discuss this after the meeting, with only the people who need to be there. Everyone will thank you for it.

别让长讨论占据站会。如果一个话题需要超过一分钟,就用那句万能短语:『Let's take this offline(这个我们会后单聊)。』意思是:散会后,只叫上相关的人继续讨论。所有人都会感谢你。

Learn a few status phrases by heart. "I'm on track to finish by Friday." "I'm slightly behind — I need one more day." "The task is done, and I can pick up something new." These fixed patterns let you speak smoothly even on a tired morning.

把几个状态短语背熟。『我进度正常,周五能完成。』『我稍微落后了,还需要一天。』『任务已经做完,我可以领新活了。』这些固定句式能让你在再困倦的早晨也说得流畅。

Finally, remember who the standup is for. It is not a report to your manager; it is a sync for your teammates, so they know what is moving and where you need help. Three sentences, said clearly, every morning — that is how a quiet new engineer becomes a trusted team member.

最后,记住站会是为谁开的。它不是向经理交差的汇报,而是与队友之间的信息同步,让大家知道哪些事在推进、你哪里需要帮助。每天早晨清清楚楚地说好三句话——安静的新工程师,就是这样一步步成为团队信赖的成员的。
